The company generates a pheromone that confuses the pests so that it cannot find its mate and that way is not able to reproduce. So it eventually dies and does not multiply.

The unique thing about the company is the ability to create new pheromones to disrupt the reproduction of other bugs. This is a great example of engineering the evolution to come up with new pheromones. These new pheromones can be produced in yeast and can be made at low cost and can be really effective.
