It is possible to transfer DNA from one cell to another but usually this is done by transfer of small regions of DNA and their transfer. However, larger pieces can be transferred as whole chromosomes that would add significant amount of DNA material. There are several steps involved such as creation of large sequences and then their formation into a chromosome. There are multiple methods involved and it will need execution of multiple steps to make it viable. One plan has been to transfer chromosome to an intermediate assembly cell that could be a stem cell from a mouse, then using this intermediate cell to transfer the chromosome to a receiver cell. That process will need new methods to specifically eliminate the chromosome that is being replaced. Microcells provide one such framework.
