Causes of Death

If you’re a billionaire, then you’ve got a lot of wealth and access to our resources. However, what you do not have is access to additional years of your life. There has been a wonderful Substack post about how billionaires die. It turns out that most of the death is due to aging and unspecified reasons, but the second has been illnesses and a substantial proportion has also been Cancer. Cardiovascular shows up prominently, but others like Neuro-degenerative and respiratory do not show up as much. In addition, there are other causes due to accidents, but not significant.

    Adeno associated virus

Adeno associated virus (AAV) has been one of major interests for gene therapy. AAV was discovered in 1965 as a contaminant of adeno virus and hence the name. It is 22nm and low pathogenicity because no polymerase and cannot replicate till there is co-infector. Genome map is 4.7kb. 145 nucleotides inverted terminal repeats at both…

  • Plant communication

Plants communicate with each other. That much is known. However, what is not known is how plants communicate using symbiosis. Dr Johnson has reported new work in Ecology letters that shows that plants use symbiotic fungi to enable communication. Communication also causes interesting secretion by plants when infected by aphids. These secretions that are volatile…

  • Chromosome transfer

It is possible to transfer DNA from one cell to another but usually this is done by transfer of small regions of DNA and their transfer. However, larger pieces can be transferred as whole chromosomes that would add significant amount of DNA material. There are several steps involved such as creation of large sequences and…

    Radiopharmaceuticals

Development is complex: Usually are highly cancer specific, high persistent expression throughout the tumor and metastasis, readily accessible on the cell surface, not shed and thoroughly validated. Many isotopes are possible and many targets possible such as Nectin4, DLL3, FAP, Somatostatin receptors, PSMA, Integrins, CXCR4, Claudin 18.2, Norepinephrine transporter, EGFR2. Clearance from tumor will matter…

Pillar 2: Birthweight associations reveal that average-term births are least associated with disease, while high- and…

  • Morphological length

In alligator length estimation, the snout-eye-length is an approximation of length used for some species and speaks about proportionality of growth. For example, each inch length from the eye of the crocodile to the end of the snout equals the length of the alligator. For example 3 inches of snout-eye-length implies that the alligator is…
