Morphological length

Wildlife photo of an American alligator swimming in a body of water, Orlando, Florida.

In alligator length estimation, the snout-eye-length is an approximation of length used for some species and speaks about proportionality of growth. For example, each inch length from the eye of the crocodile to the end of the snout equals the length of the alligator. For example 3 inches of snout-eye-length implies that the alligator is 3 foot in length. This estimation works for some species of alligator but implies that all growth is proportional and has a good p-value

Interestingly, the snout length does change and there has been strong correlation of increased snout length has been observed in domestication across multiple species and human change in facial features may also be ascribed to that “domestication”.

Sometimes it is hard to imagine how many molecules are involved in a common biological pathway but there are thousands of molecules that orchestrate their chemical reactions to sustain life. One such area is the synaptic gap where messages are passed between neurons. This is a very active space where vesicle with messengers cross the…

  • Grunost

Grunost is a type of cheese that is sweet and often typical of Norways’ cheese culture. It is incidentally not a cheese at all since it is made from the process of making cheese that leaves whey as a by product. This whey is boiled with milk or cream to make a brown caramelized cheese….

  • Chromosome transfer

It is possible to transfer DNA from one cell to another but usually this is done by transfer of small regions of DNA and their transfer. However, larger pieces can be transferred as whole chromosomes that would add significant amount of DNA material. There are several steps involved such as creation of large sequences and…
