The opening line “Life is Difficult” makes one accept the difficulty and pain inherent and avoidance not being the central purpose. One area that makes it possible is cultivating discipline and overcoming laziness, which may mean delaying gratification, accepting responsibility for actions and dedication to truth. He wrote about love as a verb rather than a feeling.
