Mutanome

Proteins mutate. This happens due to various circumstances but the consequences can be significant. One of the major effects is cancer. The mutated proteins build up properties that are oncogenic and can be a problem.
This has been investigated through publications wherein a few mutations were highlighted. Currently, many of the proteins have been cataloged and analyzed. Some really fantastic tools exist to analyze these mutations and correlate it with the patient and their disease.
One such tool is at https://mutanome.lerner.ccf.org
This enables analysis of various proteins and then shows also what is currently known about their protein modifications, such as phosphorylation. Amazing that it can also show the mutation on the protein structure.

It also leads to the GDC portal which can interrogate various mutations from a specific patient.

Amazing to see such tools available to sit and explore the data.
