Sensors Devices those are beautiful even if not very useful

Lapka is an interesting company. In this dangerous world it thinks we need sensors that measure things. These sensors measure radioactivity (Geiger counter), electromagnetic fields, humidity and organic content of food. These devices are not new. Many companies make them but they do it very elegantly. Their devices look good and hopefully are as functional as they are good.

About $220 gets you the sensors and you supply the iPhone. This device pattern seems to be common in many companies that make the sensors and allow you to couple the device to your phone. There are other companies that do this for android phones and there are many on crowd-sourcing channels.

The sensor market is crowded but as history has shown it is not necessary to be first. iPhone was not the first mobile phone or smart phone. Google was not the first search engine. What distinguishes these successful companies from others is probably a great topic for discussion but these sensors are interesting by themselves too !

Is there a use for all the sensors? Or are these companies trying to make it big without a big demand ?
