Quantum computing

On May 15th Dr McGeoch of Amherst University presented a paper about a test that was done to compare computers running conventional binary logic with computers using quantum computing chips. It is fascinating to see that the quantum computers have made the leap from just theory to actual machines. There were 3 tests done and in two of them both of them were equal but in the third one the quantum computer performed nearly 3600 times as fast. There are a lot of caveats with the mathematical test since there was a doubt whether the algorithms used on the binary computer (traditional computer) was optimized for the mathematical test but still these are first steps and there may be more at stake rather than just a test.

Dwave is the company that seems to be making a lot of headway into quantum computing and they have explained their technology well on their website as well as in the video below.

One interpretation of Quantum mechanics suggest parallel world’s and now with the presence of Quantum computing makes us wonder where we are heading now.
