Image analysis – outsourced, simple and free

Image analysis used to be very labor-intensive operation. It required programmers to understand what was being analyzed and then developing algorithms to specifically find the areas of interest. Then came Machine learning and Artificial intelligence tools. These found and analyzed the data but now you needed different set of programmers and they needed more sample data sets that were pre-analyzed for that specific feature of interest in the image.
Now here comes Quantius – https://www.quanti.us/
This is a platform that will enable a scientist to analyze any image or a series of image using humans (called mechanical turks) to train the system and then it auto analyzes the image.
This has been further simplified by using their computer system wherein you send them the image and out comes the data – much of the complexity of mechanical turk and image analysis has been abstracted out.
What is amazing is that some of the analysis and segmentation that they show in their Nature methods paper  (15). 587-90. Aug, 2018 is incredibly good. These kinds of analysis were not possible without significant complexity till date whereas this group of university researchers have made this incredibly simple and accurate.
What will you analyze?
